Hero Design: After facing an apparent death at sea in the midst of battle in the 1850's, this ragged, raging captain mysteriously appears on the shores of New York Harbor some 70 years later, and not a day older. Now he seeks to complete the ritual so he can finish the fight. blah blah blah, captain ahab.
gameplay concept: 3d kunkka with some more fun stuff. kunkka is one of my favorite dota heroes, so this concept is similar with additions to account for 3d.
Ability 1: X Marks the Spot/ insert bird pun here
Very similar to Kunkka's dota ability, but a tad different since this is 3d, they are now tagged by the ghostly parrot on the hero's shoulder and are returned to the spot they were initially hit, whether it be on the ground or in the air.
Ability 2: Bombs away!
Hero lights a bomb with a short fuse timer. Typical pirate bomb tossing stuff, but clever fuse timing allows for usage up-close or tagging people in the air with the right timing. A more unique ability for this hero is the ability to suicide with this, simply arm and let the timer run out. Bombs will receive a heavy damage amplification, but the Hero will be self harmed by his own bomb. For the sake of balance, can probably let out about 2-3 active ones at a time.
Ability 3: Spectral Anchor
Hero summons a spectral anchor from the air that sweeps through the air in a horizontal line. Caught enemy heroes will be dragged along a short distance and popped into the air. Combo this with good bomb timing and ability 1 for best effect.
Ability 4: Ghostship
Less a ship and more like a skiff, for the sake of gameplay purposes. Castable on both the ground and the air, this differs from the dota namesake because the hero (and team!) can actually ride it when summoned. Hero summons a ridable platform that plunges straight ahead in whatever direction it was first cast in, this ship will crash into a big AOE with plenty of knockback when it collides into a hero or a wall. I like to imagine very fun suicide charges with ability 2 combo'd with this.
